The best thing I heard all day was definitely the latest upload from Tape, Emily Botein [April 14, 39 minutes]. Host Mooj Zadie interviews Emily Botein, the Vice President of On-Demand Content at WNYC. It's a fascinating conversation. Emily talks about her typical day in the studio, how she got her start in radio, and the incredibly important role the producer plays. She says, "You're not just trying to gather a story. Something is supposed to happen on the tape. So you need to do everything possible to think about what can happen, and how you can try to trigger it." I love that. This was my first time tuning in to Tape and I subscribed immediately (and then listened to the great episodes with Stephanie Foo and Hillary Frank from last year). If you're a radio fan and haven't heard this show yet, go check it out immediately. It's good.
